Wonder Woman 1984

January 26, 2021

Welp, I guess I can’t put this one off any longer.

There’ve been wildly divergent reactions to this one. Where do I fall?

I thought it was awful. I really hate that I thought it was awful. But it’s like at every decision branch, the filmmakers made the stupidest choice. I don’t actually want to talk about it. It was badly paced, the action scenes went on too long and looked like cartoons, and nothing made sense. A World War I pilot would not be able to get into a modern jet and fly it. Don’t tell me “you just have to shut your brain off,” because that’s not what’s going on here. This is thinking your audience is stupid and isn’t going to notice stupid. What a waste.

(Here’s the Pitch Meeting video, which is hilarious and lays out everything. )

I was very sad that it was the way it was. We were so excited for this movie, and then the streaming service kept crashing and it took 3 days to actually be able to watch it. I don’t even understand why he was in the movie… He just caused so many problems… He was a major liability in every scene he was in. And 3/4 of the way through my husband was confused as to why the movie wasn’t over yet.

(Unqualified Inquiry/opinion have not seen don’t even remember the trailer very well.)
I had thought that the movie could very well suffer from attempting the making it a Linda Carter “period piece” given the title being 1984.
Do you think the film suffered from this?

Wow. Just Wow! That pitch video was hilarious.
World Fandom award for Carrie Vaughn.
Taking bad movie bullets for her fans since 2007.
As well as giving us the Gems we may have missed.

  4. Yeah…it was a disappointing mess. Like they were too in love with the characters/actors to actually think about telling a decent story.

Still…high hopes for her Rogue Squadron movie, if this doesn’t tank her chances.

A World War I pilot would not be able to get into a modern jet and fly it.

And from what I’ve heard, that’s the least of the movie’s problems.
