bestseller buddies

October 18, 2019

I’m one of those people who’s often bemused by the very specific categories Amazon uses to generate bestseller lists. It’s a nice little egoboo for a writer, but does it mean anything? I don’t know.

But it does occasionally lead to something that makes me smile, like seeing my book right next to my friend’s book on the same list:  in this case, a new James S.A. Corey novella coming out soon.

Half the rest of that list is bear shapeshifter romance. Apparently that’s a thing?

No shapeshifter romances for me. Action on the streets, please, not between the sheets. Off to look for James S A Corey’s novella…

I can see the appeal for shapeshifter romance, but “bear shapeshifter romance” sounds like a very narrow niche… 😛

Maybe fewer issues with the popular perception of ‘pack hierachy’ than for wolves – despite the fact that the research that led to the popular view of wolf pack hierarchy was done on a pack put together by humans and has been roundly refuted by the author of the original study in his later work on wild wolf packs. Why yes this is something that annoys me, especially when people try and apply that busted theory to the poor dogs in their lives.

It is, in fact, a thing – my wife and I get smacked by free offerings in the werebear womances category on a regular basis.
