ideas are like oxygen: a journal by Carrie Vaughn
My copies of Kitty Saves the World showed up this week.
That’s a pretty nice looking set of books if I do say so myself. I’m just going to sit back and take it all in for a few minutes. Ahhh….
I was thinking the other day that the Hugo’s need a new award. To be given every four years for completed series. Nominations to come from any series competed in the year before the last award, and in the two years following the last award. Perhaps including series exceeding seven volumes if not yet competed? Do you think that sounds like a good category?
Congratulations, I look forward to the signing on Wednesday.
Can’t wait! Since I am moving today your books will likely be the first I will look for, just to make sure I got everything signed and if not I can bring them with me on Wednesday.
Speaking of which, do you happen to have any more info about the time for the realese party at the Tattered Cover? It still says more details when you have them on your conventions and signings page.
Ah yes — it’s 7 pm at the Colfax branch. The info is also up at their website.
There’s actually a proposal floating around for a best series Hugo, but it’s problematic in many ways and there are a lot of arguments against it. One being that series novels already get nominated for best novel all the time. Another being the likelihood that urban fantasy or paranormal — or anything other than bog standard epic fantasy — would be recognized is quite slim.
This is exciting!
Also depressing (I’m going to miss Kitty so much!), but mostly very exciting. I can’t wait for the ride, and also what you do next!
Just curious – do you have another [long] series planned, or are you going to continue doing one-shot and the like? Or have you just been so focused on getting Kitty squared away that the Life After is a (not so distant)dream?
I’m not planning a big series but I’m not against one either, if the right thing comes along. Right now I’m spinning up a bunch of different things to see which one takes off.
My next book is a YA space opera called STUDY ABROAD that will be out in May 2016.
Yay! Something new to get excited about!
