what I did last night
November 2, 2011
Cyndi Lauper played at the Ogden in Denver last night. I was there, and it was an amazing show. Basically, it’s her and all her friends — who happen to be world-class blues musicians and session players — playing her favorite songs. She’s got a voice like liquid gold and sounds better than ever.
Her music’s been part of my life since I was twelve years old, when She’s So Unusual came out. I bought her Hat Full of Stars album during my junior year abroad and it was like finding a little piece of home overseas. That whole time, she’s done what she’s wanted and followed her own path. Also, did you know “She Bop” plays really well as a rockin’ blues song?
I didn’t get pics, but the clips are already showing up on YouTube:
We also had our second serious snowfall of the year last night. It’s going to be an interesting winter…

I have always been a Cyndi fan, to the point i actually went and saw Vibes in the theaters. She really is awesome to see live.
