scratching my head

May 8, 2008

I saw the funniest set of bumper stickers yesterday. The car had an “Obama 08″ sticker, and right under that was a “Ron Paul for President” sticker.

The thing is, I don’t think it was supposed to be funny. But I can’t figure it out. Does the car belong to two people with wildly different political affiliations? Did someone change preferences and not bother taking off the old sticker? Does this person think they’d make good running mates?

We Paulites already know there’s likely not enough of us to get Ron Paul in the White House, but most of us also plan to either do a write-in vote for RP in the general election or go third party just to spite McCain. Which, obviously, will end up an advantage for Obama. But that’s okay because some Paulites also like Obama, seeing him as a much better option than Clinton for the Dems. Obama got screwed almost as bad as Kucinich and Paul by the voting fraud that happened in some of the States (New Hampshire being the most talked about State where it happened, but there were also plenty of shenanigans going on in Florida, Louisiana and California, too).

I don’t know about a Ron Paul/Obama (or vice versa) ticket, but early on there was plenty of talk about wanting to see a Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich ticket.

This year’s election has been, to say the least, bizarre and eye-opening all at the same time.

Obama and Paul were both strongly against the war in Iraq from the beginning, so maybe that’s the common denominator.

So, I’m trying to venture outside of my own blogging world, that’s how I stumbled into yours. Just wanted to let you know that I came by, and enjoyed your blog greatly!

Ah, those perspectives are both interesting. I have a slightly different take on Paul because of some of this other stances, so I never pictured him in the same camp as Obama. But that makes sense.
